Celine Vipiana

Just like Coco Chanel, there really is a person behind the brand. Celine Vipiana started her business in wartime Paris in 1945, when women were not encouraged to be independent. Yet, at 24, Vipiana moved to her own beat and started by designing shoes for children. The husband and wife team of Celine and Richard Vipiana opened a small boutique in Paris that sold luxurious, high-end children shoes. Crafted with detail and style, the shoes were an immediate catalyst for the Vipianas unforeseen success in the world of fashion.

After the World War II, Celine Vipiana started to leave her legacy as fashion designer when she created a new type of contemporary luxury that would be available to everyone. From then one, there was no stopping the brand it developed with these girls and more wardrobe staples were added in the years to come.

Perhaps the most significant period was in the 1960s, when the Céline handbags made its debut, much to the delight of women around the world. The company went on to introduce the cult Boogie bag in 2000, and this year will see the launch of the Bittersweet bag.

In 1997, Michael Kors became the first designer to be signed by Céline . When Kors left, Ivana Omazic (who was with Prada at the time) was selected to create products that best reflect the modern, independent women.

Phoebe Philo, the former creative director of Chloé , now is the head designer of Céline. The label of Céline is not scared to experiment with different elements of fashion. Their unexpected twists and turns of exotic patterns and fresh new modern looks keep the brand exceptionally prestigious among the many fashion designers in the world.
