Emma Hill, Creative Director of Mulberry
After graduating from fashion school in London, Emma Hill took a job at Burberry ( Burberry handbags ) as an accessories designer. Although she had originally planned to focus on clothing, not accessories, she thought that working for the international brand would give her a good jumping-off point from which to launch her move to New York. And along the way she discovered her talent for creating distinctive and original accessories. She moved on to become senior designer for accessories at Calvin Klein and then joined Marc Jacobs. The Gap recruited her in 2002, and she immediately made a splash with her leather, denim and corduroy handbags.
A Ravensbourne graduate, Emma is looking forward to coming home to a British brand after her years in New York and Paris.
Mulberry welcomes Emma Hill to head the design team and oversee all creative functions of the company. Lisa Montague looks forward to bolstering the creative force of Mulberry ( Mulberry handbags ) as the brand embarks on new challenges and brings in resource for future development.
In 2009, Emma Hill launched her first collection for the cult British handbag house Mulberry which hit the shops.
Her first design for the house, a squashy, cracked-leather clutch, based on the classic Mulberry Bayswater bags, is already achieving cult status.
Emma Hill says “I’ve always loved Mulberry and look forward lending my skills to build on the brand’s exciting recent achievements and secure its position in the international marketplace.”
