Botkier is created by fashion photographer Monica Botkier, a native to New York City, who delved into the fashion industry in 2003. Botkier’s design philosophy marries luxury and utility with a downtown edge. Botkier has created a niche in the handbag market by offering women a designer product at an attainable price point. From supple leathers, delicious colors and custom crafted hardware Botkier handbags establish a personality of their own-clean and classic, while incredibly sexy.
Working as a photographer shooting for magazines such as Surface, Mademoiselle, Seventeen, Nylon and Fitness, Monica Botkier was on the brink of becoming the internationally recognized accessories designer she is today. Spending her days running through downtown Manhattan and loaded up with all the essential items a fashion photographer must carry, Monica found herself longing for an easier way to organize her life. After searching for such bag, Monica simply decided to create her own that was roomy, yet chic enough to be trotted in front of the industry's scrutinizing eye. Functional and wearable, stylish and detailed-the Botkier Trigger bag was born.
Botkier handbags have found a devoted fan base both in the US and around the world including Japan, Scandanavia, and the UK. Botkier handbags are a permanent item on the celebrity 'must have list'. The Botkier brand has created several iconic styles such as the 'Botkier Trigger bag ', and 'Botkier Sasha bag ' that have been seen on the arms of celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Joy Bryant and Kate Bosworth.
This new season, Botkier fans are excited not only to celebrate Botkier’s fifth anniversary, but also to share the launch of the first shoe collection. In celebration, Botkier hosted a little autumn soiree at the Chateau Marmont in October 2008, to give their LA friends a sneak peak. Actress Michelle Trachtenbery, Joy Bryant, and Elisha Cutbert and stylist Britt Bardo all joined the party to try on the newest collection of shoes and new spring bags!
