Lancel is a French luxury fashion house established in Paris. It's a family business started by Alphonse Lancel and his wife Angele. Lancel's history dates back to 1876 and the couple originally started off with a business that deals in smoking paraphernalia. It was in the 1920s that Lancel started expanding its boutiques and grew to become one of the most recognized high-end leather product makers worldwide.
Originating in 1876, Lancel has a profound history of refined technology in leather goods. As an active trendsetter, Lancel continuously sets new standards in design, quality and craftsmanship. 'Chic', 'Casual' and 'Charming' are at the heart of the brand which reflects the lifestyle of contemporary Parisian women. Whether you are fancying a relaxing afternoon wandering on Les Champs-Élysées; or longing for a fun party wearing a pair of sexy stilettos, Lancel has the best for all.
The design of Lancel handbags is never over the top, but accentuating each design with bold stitches, simple tassels and careful color contrasts. And unlike some designer handbags that rely on chunky brand IDs placed all over the bag, Lancel subtly places its silver ID plate inside the bag or dangling sweetly from the bag's handles.
Lancel created the Elsa Bucket bag in early 1987 and it became the brand's bestseller. Three million of these bags were made and sold. Twenty years later, Lancel handbags engaged four young designers - Erik Halley, Xavier Delcour, Yaz Yazbukey and Tim Van Steenbergen to give this legendary bag a new life. The four succeeded in doing not only that but also victoriously returned the celebrity status to the Bucket bag. Perhaps that is part of the reason that Lancel's handbags are so vibrant and 'today' because these young fashion designers set the trend.
